Our now 7-year old son had a formal Psychological Assessment this past summer with a diagnosis of Dyslexia on top of a new diagnosis of ADD and mild to moderate ASD from age 3. 

We switched from ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis) to OG this January and my son has moved leaps and bounds in his academic development for 2 reasons: Not just the OG philosophy and structure, but also the connection he has made with his tutor. I have learned that in this world when you have a child with Special Needs you try and hold on to those people that come across your path that your child makes a connection with...the individuals that form a special bond with your child and genuinely care for their well-being and success. This is the feeling I have about his tutor. She is experienced and moves at my son's pace...does not go on to learn a new rule until my son can demonstrate a strong understanding. This is a skill over and above what is taught in OG...... but OG tutors are superior both in their knowledge level and execution, I dare say, to 95% of Elementary School Teachers given the number of hours spent on teaching a child how to read and write AND to do so in a multi-sensory way.  I still work hard myself with my son supporting his OG tutor with an additional 30-40 minutes a day most days but all the hard work by our son, his dedicated tutor and myself are paying off. I have undeniable confidence even in new OG tutors because they all are taught the same way and taught exactly what to do and for how long in a 1-hour session. Every minute can be accounted for. OG works and I am thankful that I was introduced to it and glad I made the switch from ABA.
